Thursday coronavirus update: 61 more deaths, 2,204 additional cases

The death toll in Minnesota from COVID-19 reached 5,323 on Thursday, with an additional 61 deaths.
The state data also reports another 2,204 confirmed infections, increasing Minnesota’s total number of cases to 415,302. The actual number of cases is likely higher due to testing shortages earlier on in the pandemic.
Of Thursday’s reported deaths, 37 were residents of long-term care or assisted living centers.
Of the state’s total deaths since the pandemic began, 3,431 were long-term care or assisted living center residents.
The most recent data shows that so far, 44,638 Minnesotans have received their coronavirus vaccine. Health care workers and long-term care residents are currently being prioritized in the first phase of vaccine administration.
HOW ARE PATIENTS DOING?

There were 397,080 patients reported Thursday that no longer need to be isolated as they have recovered enough, an increase from 395,679 Wednesday.
In total, 21,864 Minnesotans have been hospitalized with the virus, including 4,620 in intensive care.

Number of health care workers with COVID-19: 32,194
The age group with the most cases is 20- to 24-year-olds with 42,229 cases.
The age group with the most deaths is 85- to 89-year-olds with 1,010 deaths.
