Saturday coronavirus update: 57 new MN deaths, 2,170 cases

Deaths in Minnesota from COVID-19 have reached 5,107, with an additional 57 reported on Saturday, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.
The numbers reported are from data that had been analyzed Thursday. Christmas Day figures will be delayed.
Of those who died, 13 were in their 90s, 22 in their 80s, 16 in their 70s, three in their 60s, one in his or her 50s and two in their 40s. Thirty-two were from long-term care or assisted-living facilities and one was from a group home.
Hennepin and Ramsey counties had the most deaths with seven each. Anoka had five and Dakota had four. There were 23 other counties with three or fewer deaths each.
The state reported another 2,170 confirmed infections, increasing Minnesota’s total number of cases to 406,545. The actual number of cases is likely much higher as the data only represents those who have been tested for the virus, state officials say. Of the cumulative deaths in Minnesota, 65 percent have been in long-term care facilities.
A total of 21,213 — or about 5 percent —  of the overall total of those who tested positive since March have had to be hospitalized.
Overall, there have been 5,392,411 completed tests in the state.
