Plant-based Bingo
Plant-Based Advocates, a Los Gatos-based group that promotes plant-based diets, has devised the Earth-Friendly Bingo Challenge—25 activities that residents can do to reduce their environmental impact, improve their health and generally reduce their carbon footprint. These activities range from using reusable shopping bags to composting food.
“Our habits can have a huge impact on our health and on our environment,” group member Shailaja Venkatsubramanyan said in a statement. “Small changes, such as eating more plant-based (foods), reducing plastic and limiting water use, can add up to big results.”
Residents of Los Gatos, Campbell, Saratoga and Monte Sereno can play the game via the group’s webstite. Those who complete at least five activities can submit their bingo card for a chance to win prizes including gift certificates to local businesses.
The group is also conducting a survey of local residents to gauge interest in eating more plant-based foods.
“The results will help us promote plant-based eating to residents and local restaurants, and give us an idea of what tools are most useful to residents,” group member Karen Rubio said in a statement.
Survey participants will be entered into a drawing for one of three copies of the “Plant-Based on a Budget” cookbook.
The bingo challenge and survey are available through Jan. 31 at http://www.plantbasedadvocates.com.
