GAME ESSENTIALS: Raiders (7-6) vs. Chargers (4-9) at Allegiant Stadium on Thursday at 5:20 p.m. (PT). TV: FOX-TV, Joe Buck (play-by-play), Troy Aikman (analyst), Erin Andrews (reporter), Kristina Pink (reporter).
ODDS: Raiders -3.5. OVER/UNDER: 53.
SERIES: Raiders lead 66-54-2. LAST MEETING: Raiders won 31-26 at Los Angeles on Nov. 8, 2020.
WHY RAIDERS COULD WIN: The Chargers’ ability to protect rookie quarterback Justin Herbert may be compromised with the injuries that could sideline right tackle Bryan Bulaga (concussion protocol) and right guard Trai Turner (head/neck) this week. … The Chargers could also be without one of their two standout receivers, unless Mike Williams (back) is able to make a quick recovery from an injury that sidelined him after just two plays in their win over Atlanta Sunday. … Cornerbacks Casey Hayward and Chris Harris Jr. have slipped somewhat in their play the past few weeks. Quarterbacks throwing to the man Hayward covers have found a lot of success with a 112.4 passer rating. Harris, meanwhile, has allowed quarterbacks to post a 103.3 rating against him.

WHY CHARGERS COULD WIN: Let’s not forget, the Chargers would have handed the Raiders a loss the last time they met had it not been for two outstanding back-to-back pass breakups in the end zone by Isaiah Johnson. … Former Cal star receiver Keenan Allen keeps establishing himself as one of the league’s most dangerous receivers. Allen, who had nine catches for 103 yards and a score against the Raiders earlier this season, set an NFL record Sunday. No receiver in league history has caught more passes in his first 100 games than Allen’s 623 receptions in 99 career games.
